Breath-Based Meditation – From Overwhelm to Empowerment
Sunday, April 26th | 7pm ET / 4pm PT
Donation-based | via Zoom
The goal of this 60-minute Sanctuary is to Release the Overwhelm and Reconnect to the Empowerment.
This Sanctuary will focus on breath patterns and somatic practices to release overwhelm and reconnect with our confidence, conviction, power, presence, and openness.
We’ll use more moderate-level breath techniques with extended holds. Stretching and self-massage will also be included to help you somatically release emotions and discharge overwhelming sensations and energy.
This Sanctuary is a donation-based session. You’ll receive a confirmation email after you register with details on the event and a link to make a donation, if you would like to and are able to.
What to Expect?
If this is your first breathwork session, you can expect a lot of breathing. You will be guided through elongated breaths, extended holds, and different patterns to change your physiology with your breath.
Some experiences that are normal: tingling in the hands, face, and feet is common, as we move blood to our core. Feeling a change in temperature and light-headedness can occur as well. Many people feel colder during a session, especially in their extremities. Spontaneous release of emotions (crying, laughing, somatic shaking) is also normal in response to controlled breathing. If you feel dizzy or overwhelmed at any time during the session, that is your body’s queue to return to slow normal breathing.
Who should NOT join?
Breathwork may not be suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions, including but not limited to:
Cardiovascular conditions
Issues or history with high or low blood pressure
Respiratory conditions (e.g., asthma, chronic lung conditions, COPD)
Pregnancy
A history of seizures, fainting, or passing out or related conditions (e.g. POTS)
Mental health conditions (e.g., schizophrenia, anxiety, PTSD, depression)
Active psychological distress or emotional overwhelm
Recent surgeries or injuries
Please reach out if you have any questions.
